Hem identificat progr\u00e9s amb desenvolupament tecnol\u00f2gic. Jacques Ellul, membre del que s\u2019ha denominat escola francesa de tecnologia, \u00e9s un dels pensadors del segle XX que m\u00e9s ha reflexionat sobre les transformacions que experimenta l\u2019\u00e9sser hum\u00e0 en el medi t\u00e8cnic. Ellul creu que el pensament tecnol\u00f2gic ha bandejat i ofegat altres dimensions de la persona humana (po\u00e8tica, emotiva, simb\u00f2lica, religiosa&#8230;), i considera que els aven\u00e7os tecnol\u00f2gics generen m\u00e9s problemes que no pas resolen.
